Alexandros Tziolis scored two goals Sunday to help Panathinaikos beat Atromitos 4-0 and retain second place in the Greek league.

Dimitris Salpingidis and Vangelis Mantzios also scored for Panathinaikos, which has 25 points, two behind Olympiakos and one ahead of AEK Athens. AEK beat Kerkyra 4-1 Saturday.

Tziolis gave his team the lead in the eighth minute with a powerful right-foot volley. Dimitris Papadopoulos almost added another in the 44th when he beat two defenders on the edge of the box but his shot was saved by Chrysostomos Michailidis.

Tziolis made it 2-0 with a splendid curling shot in the 70th before Salpingidis added another six minutes later. Mantzios scored in the 82nd.

Also Sunday, it was: Apollon 0, Ergotelis 0; OFI 1, Egaleo 0; Larissa 0, Iraklis 1; Panionios 0, Xanthi 2; and PAOK 3, Ionikos 0.
