America (Mex) v Monarcas Morelia

This weekend sees the last round of matches for the regular season in Mexico, with places up for grabs in the end of season play-offs to decide the eventual champions.

Group 3 is particularly tight, with Toluca, America, UNAM Pumas and even Morelia all harbouring hopes of a place in the knock-out stage.

America's task is relatively straightforward, in that a win against Morelia will ensure their progress, whereas Morelia's hopes depend not only on them winning, but results elsewhere all going their way. That's an unlikely scenario.

One key factor to this game is that UNAM Pumas play host to UNL Tigres four hours prior to the kick-off here, so that result could have an impact on events in this match. However, Pumas should win against a team with nothing to play for, which would not only all but end Morelia's slender hopes of progress, but would make a victory in the Azteca Stadium imperative for America.

In players of the calibre of Claudio Lopez, Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Salvador Cabanas, they certainly possess the requisite firepower to secure the win and it's difficult to envisage the visitors put up much resistance before a packed house if they fall behind.
