One-match UEFA home fan ban for Panathinaikos October 7th 2006
Panathinaikos will play their first UEFA Cup group stage home match behind closed doors after European football's governing body penalized them for crowd disturbances.
A UEFA official noted in his report that fireworks went off inside the stadium during the first leg of Panathinaikos' first round match against Metalurg Zaporizhya, violating UEFA statutes.
Therefore, UEFA decided that the Matchday 1 game on 19 October against Hapoel Tel-Aviv in Group G will not have any spectators, pending an appeal which the Greeks can file within the next three days. |
